Media Release: Brilliant business advice for budding entrepreneurs

AS students near the end of their university or college courses they have to make the tough decision about the career path they should follow.

Many dream of becoming their own boss, but for most the idea never becomes reality.

Next week, business support and development organisation Enterprise North East Trust (Enterprise), is teaming up with Business Gateway and Aberdeen College to host a special event aimed at developing the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

The Be Your Own Boss event, taking place at Aberdeen College’s Gallowgate Centre on Wednesday (6 March), will include seminars and talks throughout the day, and is open to students looking for help and advice about starting their own business.

Budding business men and women will have the chance to speak to representatives from from HM Revenue & Customs, Princes Trust Youth Business Scotland, Federation of Small Businesses, Business Gateway, Enterprise and Aberdeen College Enterprise for information and advice.

Successful business owners from the North-east will also be on hand during the free event, to talk to students about their achievements.

James Kelly, Aberdeen photographer, Graeme Masterton from Gamola Golf, Matthew Tutt from Itsy World Catering, and Tracey Devine Smith, international session hair stylist, will talk about the secret of their success during a series of special lectures.

Andrew Burnett, operations director at Business Gateway, said: “Becoming your own boss can be an extremely rewarding experience.

“Each year, over 1,000 people start up their new businesses with the help of Enterprise and Business Gateway in the City and Shire, and the event will give youngsters the opportunity to learn about the wealth of support available including market research, training and professional business advice.”
