THE UK’s first Bakery ATM has been shortlisted in the innovation category of a leading nationwide retail award.

Launched at the end of last year in Glasgow’s St. Enoch Centre by Bradfords Bakers, one of Glasgow’s best known and oldest family firms, the Bakery ATM has proved to be a popular success with Glaswegians treating themselves to freshly-baked cupcakes and confectionery whilst out shopping.

Now the innovation behind the Bakery ATM has been recognised by The British Council of Shopping Centres Opal Awards which showcase the best examples in the marketplace, encouraging further innovation and creativity.

Claire Bradford, of Bradfords Bakers, said: “We might be a fourth generation family firm, but launching the first Bakery ATM in the UK in Glasgow shows that we’ve never stopped looking for fresh ways to service our customers.

“We’re delighted with this recognition from the retail sector and look forward to rolling out our Bakery ATM to other shopping centres across the country.”

The Bakery ATM, located opposite Debenhams on the first floor at St. Enoch Centre in the heart of Glasgow city centre, is restocked each morning with every cake dispensed freshly baked from Bradfords’ local bakery.

Opal award winners will be announced at a breakfast presentation on Wednesday 24th April in London.

Founded in the south side of Glasgow in 1924, Bradford’s Bakers remains a family owned and operated business with support from skilled staff still baking traditional hand crafted products.
