THE next generation of marketers learned the growing importance of integrating promotional merchandise into successful marketing campaigns at a recent event in Scotland.
Orb Group’s promotional merchandise showcase was held last month in Glasgow and drew visitors from across the UK.
Managing director, Mike Smith, and event co-ordinator, Gerry Thomas, from Plastechprint, were particularly impressed by the number of young marketeers who were interested in learning more about the role of promotional merchandise in successful marketing campaigns.
Marketing and business students from Glasgow University, City of Glasgow College and the University of the West of Scotland, turned out in numbers to view the showcase of promotional merchandise and to hear the keynote speeches.
Gerry explained: “The event featured promotional products from suppliers throughout the country and seminars from promotional marketing and brand building experts such as Graeme Atha, from The Marketing Society, and Jonathan Bailey, from Sports Merchandise Global.
“The focus was on showing how ‘Blue chip’ companies, SMEs and not-for profit organisations could use promotional merchandise to develop winning brands.”
Mike added: “I’d like to thank the industry for supporting Orb and contributing to the success of the event. Almost 150 existing and new customers attended the showcase.
“It is clear from the buzz during the event and the feedback we have received since, that marketing and business development practioners are interested in learning how they can incorporate branded merchandise and promotional products into their campaigns.”
He added: “The success of the event has showed that distributors and suppliers can work together to promote the industry to end users.
“I was encouraged by the numbers of final-year marketing students who were interested in learning more about promotional merchandise and I hope that this indicates a healthy future for the industry.”
