AVOID the pitfalls of overseas business development and learn from an experienced entrepreneur who knows all about the hurdles SME’s are faced with when implementing an ‘overseas market penetration strategy’.
In 2009, Promotional product expert, Mike Smith, co-founder and CEO of Orb Group and Sports Merchandise Global, embarked on a strategy to develop business and encourage brand development by expanding into new markets throughout Europe.
This led to a doubling of turnover within three years and opened up many new opportunities for his promotional product businesses.
Mike will share his experiences with The Entrepreneurial Exchange members and guests on June 6th, giving them the opportunity to learn all about the highs and lows of overseas business development.
He explained: “I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with like-minded business entrepreneurs who are looking to embark on the overseas roller-coaster.
“I am sure sharing some of the trials and successes my promotional product companies, Orb Group and SMG, have overcome will give other local businesses the confidence and knowledge they require to embark on a similar journey.
“Events like this are a fantastic way for Scottish businesses to support each other.”
When asked if he felt developing new overseas markets was worth the additional resources, Mike commented: “Developing markets throughout the world has been a very positive experience for our promotional merchandise business.
“It has encouraged brand development and me to look further afield for exciting business opportunities leading to our most recent venture, the opening of a new branded merchandise company in Australia.”
The event is chaired by Roddy Hammond CEO of Worldteachers, a 100 per cent export business, operating in the International Recruitment industry.
If you wish to expand your business overseas this event should not be missed.
