TO enhance the tour experience and to encourage customers to use the tours’ hop-on, hop-off facility, the Big Bus Tours app has been developed, which is now available on both Apple and Android devices. It has been designed to complement the tour by assisting customers in getting the most out of their visit. Information on what to see and do at each stop has been researched thoroughly to benefit the user’s tour experience.
The www.bigbustours.com app uses their signature 3D map artwork and also integrates with Apple/Google maps for precise stop locations. It provides the user with interactive information on the best of each city’s attractions, landmarks, shopping and dining, encouraging customers to get off the bus to explore the city.
The www.bigbustours.com/app provides a destination overview so the user gets a taster of what is on offer in other destinations. This will encourage customers to keep the app on their mobile devices, helping develop international recognition of the Big Bus brand.
Andy McIntyre from Big Bus Tours highlights the growing trend in mobile web usage: “The number of mobile-connected devices will exceed the world’s population this year and due to increased usage on smartphones, handsets will exceed 50 per cent of mobile data traffic. Global mobile data traffic has grown by 70 per cent and smartphone usage has grown by 81 per cent in 20121. Big Bus Tours is committed to being at the forefront of changing technologies to enhance our customer experience.”
Nine city bundles are ready to download for free from the Apple Store and the other four will be available in May. From the launch of the first nine cities, there has already been over 6,000 downloads and counting. It can be downloaded via www.bigbustours.com/app.
About Big Bus Tours
Big Bus Tours is the largest operator of open-top sightseeing tours in the world, providing sightseeing tours in thirteen cities across three continents.
Big Bus Tours was formed by the merger of two established sightseeing tour businesses. The Big Bus Company Ltd – based in London, and Les Cars Rouges – based in Paris. The two businesses, each with over 20 years of successful tour experience, decided to combine their expertise, creating Big Bus Tours in May 2011.
Big Bus Tours’ sightseeing formula has been designed to provide a flexible approach to city discovery. Each open-top bus tour provides a hop-on, hop-off facility at a variety of interesting locations and, wherever possible, Big Bus Tours looks to enhance the visitor sightseeing experience by providing complementary experiences.
