Media Release: The Amazing Teenage Brain explained at the Avenue

BMB new cover large allmedia

DO you ever wonder what’s going on in teenage heads? Worry about their risk-taking, feel exasperated by their sleeping habits, roll your eyes at their emotional volatility (while ignoring your own)?

If that sounds familiar then come to The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns to hear the inspirational author Nicola Morgan talk about the new edition of Blame My Brain – The Amazing Teenage Brain Revealed.

Morgan’s classic examination of the teenage brain deals with powerful emotions; the need for more sleep, the urge to take risks, differences between genders and insights into addiction and depression.

The revised edition of this carefully researched and humorous book includes important new research, including nuanced findings about risk and emotion.

Waterstones brings Morgan to discuss her work at Primavera Bistro at The Avenue Shopping Centre on Tuesday, 28 May from 7pm – 8.30pm. A question-and-answer session, book signing and a sociable chin wag follows. Free tickets are now available from Waterstones and Primavera.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “This free event will inform, entertain and reassure. Aimed at adults, but teenagers welcome, this event gives southsiders a chance to ask questions, share experiences and meet Nicola.

“It also provides a great excuse for a night out for parents wanting to escape a house filled with the exam stress and teenage angst!”

Morgan has written many critically-acclaimed books for young people, including Fleshmarket, Mondays Are Red, Blame My Brain, Know Your Brain, The Highwayman’s Footsteps, The Highwayman’s Curse, Deathwatch and the multi‐award‐winning Wasted. She lives in Edinburgh and travels throughout UK and more widely as an inspirational speaker on topics including the brain and adolescence.

The Avenue Shopping Centre, managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
