Media Release: Call for entries in British-American Business Council International Business Awards

THE British-American Business Council Houston has issued a call for entries in the fourth Annual BABC International Business Awards.

The awards recognise companies who have made significant contributions to growing and enhancing trade, commerce, civic, philanthropic and/or cultural relations between the UK and Texas.

Scottish companies have fared very well in this awards programme since its inception. Wood Group PSN was the inaugural Large Corporate recipient in 2010 and Scottish companies have been honoured every year since.

“Wood Group PSN has been involved as a member and key participant of the British-American Business Council for the last ten years,” states Derek Blackwood, [resident for Wood Group PSN Americas division.

“Due to its large oil and gas presence, Houston is a significant market for Aberdeen-based companies to break into.

“Being recognised by BABC, one of the leading organisations for British-American business in Houston, will establish those companies honoured as one of excellence in the Houston market.”

Awards are given in three categories of competition: Small Business, Large Corporate and the Consul General’s Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.

Companies may apply for more than one award, but may be a finalist in only one category.

There are no fees associated with entering the competition.

Entries deadline is 15 July, 2013.

The winners will be announced at a luncheon on 15 October at the Omni Houston Hotel with an expected attendance of over 200 individuals from leading companies in the British-American business community.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Bill Schneider, a leading U.S. political analyst. Mr. Schneider is a Distinguished Senior Fellow and Resident Scholar at Third Way. Along with his work at Third Way, he is the Professor of Public and International Affairs at George Mason University and is a contributor to the AL Jazera English network.

The BABC International Business Awards programme is presented by the BABC Houston and United Airlines. Platinum sponsors of the event are Wood Group PSN and Blue Atlas Marketing. The event is supported by the Houston offices of UK Trade and Investment, Scottish Development International and the EIC.
