LEADING North-east company, Hydrus, has secured deals worth £1.8 million in the last three months, resulting in the creation of seven new jobs.

The Brechin-based company has secured the work primarily in the subsea engineering sector where it will support subsea construction activities for clients in the North Sea, west of Shetland and Trinidad & Tobago.

From its 35,000 sq. ft base in the Angus town, Hydrus offers an extensive range of expert manufacturing services and engineering solutions to the energy industries.

The company works with operators, tier one service companies, subsea original equipment manufacturers and increasingly in the renewables market.

Commenting on the contract wins, Hydrus managing director, Martin F. Anderson, said: “We originally planned to take on ten new people this year and we are pleased that the recent upturn in our business has accelerated those plans.

“Once again, we find ourselves perfectly positioned to capitalise on the excellent infrastructure our location affords us because we are able to transport equipment quickly and efficiently to quaysides in both Aberdeen and Montrose where we have recently completed a second project.

“Equipment was again manufactured in Brechin then assembled, tested and commissioned at Montrose prior to being sea fastened to the vessel for its final journey offshore.”
