STAFF at Inverurie-based William Lippe Architects have been throwing their weight behind good causes in an ongoing charity drive at the company.

In a bid to win her dream wedding through Northsound 1 and Cash For Kids, William Lippe Architects’ administrator, Kerry McLaughlin, and her fiancé, Jonathan Cairns, were among a group of five couples who were challenged with raising as much money as possible in two weeks.

They took second place in the competition, raising a total of £7,237 thanks to fundraising car washes in the William Lippe Architects car park as well as a charity clothes swap, family bingo night, children’s fun day, bag packing at a local supermarket, car boot sales, cake sales and even a sponsored body wax for Jonathan.

Kerry said: “I am very grateful to William Lippe Architects, Zenith Oilfield Technology, Ferguson Group and Inverurie Business Association as well as everyone who helped and donated. Without these people, we could not have raised as much as we did.”

Meanwhile, architectural technician Scott Cameron and his friends Kevin Anderson and Keith Archibald recently took on the challenge of Etape Caledonia, an 81-mile cycle ride in Perthshire.

The event is the only closed roads race for British amateur cyclists and attracted 5,500 riders.

With Scott and both his team mates finishing under their ambitious target time of four hours and 30 minutes, the running total raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care so far sits at £1,800.

Scott commented: “We would like to thank everyone who sponsored us and helped us achieve our fundraising goals. We intend to tackle this event again next year – but with even quicker times!”

The fundraising drive will continue on June 30th when Stuart Naysmith aims to complete a 16-mile cycle ride in aid of Grampian Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

He added: “We are very proud of what Kerry and Scott have achieved and, as a company, we are pleased to support the fundraising efforts of our people.”
