A DUNDEE lawyer and graduate of the University of Dundee has collected a top award for estate planning.
Caroline Fraser, an associate with Miller Hendry solicitors and estate agents in Dundee, has been named the ‘Trust and Executry Accounting Student of the Year’ at an awards ceremony in London last week after attaining the highest score in her 2012 exam paper for the STEP Diploma.
Says a spokesperson: “STEP, or the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, is the leading worldwide professional body for practitioners in the fields of trusts, estates and related issues.
“Members help families plan their long term financial future, facilitating good stewardship and financial planning across future generations. The STEP Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification in private client law and practice.”
Caroline commented: “I am absolutely delighted to have received this award. It was such an honour to be representing Miller Hendry at such a prestigious occasion. I have always found estate planning to be interesting and to be recognised as STEP’s Trust and Executry Accounting Student of the Year is just the icing on the cake.”
Commenting on her success, Ernie Boath, head of the Private Client department at Miller Hendry said: “Caroline has truly flown the flag for the firm at this major event in the legal profession’s calendar – it’s a significant professional achievement to obtain the STEP Diploma, but to be recognised as Student of the Year is simply fantastic.
“Over 2,000 UK students are studying for STEP Diplomas, and over 4,000 worldwide, to be named in the top one per cent is remarkable and we are very proud of her achievement.”
