A GROUP of staff from a leading North-east law firm are gearing up for a charity bike ride at the end of August.
Seven members of staff from Stronachs LLP, which is based on Aberdeen’s Albyn Place, are currently training for the annual Ride the North cycle challenge, which takes place at the end of August.
Stronachs’ partners, Neil Forbes, Bobby McDonald, Malcolm Donald and Colin Sandilands, will be joined by trainees, Alex Smith and Angus Willis, along with marketing manager, Judi Taylor for the event, which this year has again partnered up with Maggie’s, and sees participants cycle from Inverness to Aberdeen.
Instead of sticking to the main A96, participants follow a more scenic route from Inverness taking in Loch Ness, down to Elgin, then onto Aberdeen, covering 164 miles over two days.
This is the third year that Stronachs has entered a team into the grueling event, and have raised £10k to date with funds going to UCAN and Maggie’s.
Understandably, fitting training for the event around work can prove difficult at times, and the team are adopting different methods, including mountain biking, rowing and spinning classes, to prepare for the bike ride during their spare time.
Stronachs marketing manager, Judi Taylor said: “This is our third year of sponsoring the event. The firm positively encourages and supports staff to get involved in this type of activity, covering the registrations fees and accommodation costs for the team, and we are also hoping to provide support/marshalling assistance, which will enable staff who want to get involved, but not necessarily to cycle.”
Stronachs LLP, which was established over 200 years ago, has offices in Aberdeen and Inverness, and is now one of the few independent law firms owned, managed and operated from the North-east of Scotland providing legal and commercial advice across the UK and on an international basis.
