LARGS-local Eileen Auld will take part in a tandem skydive in an airfield in Perthshire to help raise funds for Canine Partners for Independence this Saturday (03.08.13).

Inspired by her friend Zoe Maclean, who is wheelchair-bound, and her canine companion Remus, Eileen has already exceeded her £,1000 fund-raising target and is now all set to leap from an aircraft flying at 10,000 ft at Errol airfield.

Speaking of her forthcoming adventure, Eileen said: “For one day I am facing a challenge that is not only pushing my boundaries but challenging my level of courage. Zoe does this everyday of her life.

“She faces each day of challenge and adversity with a smile and is an example of grace and poise in the face of adversity. Her canine partner, Remus had made her life more independent and more pleasurable; something many of us take for granted.”

It is estimated that around 100,000 people in Scotland are wheelchair users and a significant number of those could benefit from a canine partner.

Canine Partners aims to transform the lives of people with disabilities by providing them with highly trained assistance dogs which enable them to live more independently.
