Media Release: O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? This Saturday the In:Demand man will join fellow Clyde 1 DJ, Knoxy, at Ladies’ Night

THE preparations for Ladies’ Night at Hamilton Park Racecourse are almost complete following the recruitment of Clyde 1’s aptly-named Romeo and fixture regular, Knoxy.

Clyde’s DJ duo visited the Lanarkshire venue today to make sure the going was good in advance of their stint hosting the popular Best Dressed Lady competition, just one of many the highlights at this Saturday’s Ladies’ Night fixture.

Knoxy is no novice when it comes to the hugely popular fixture, having earned her stripes a previous Ladies’ Night fixtures at Hamilton Park. However, new-comer Romeo is sure to have his head turned when the duo present this year’s famed Best Dressed Lady catwalk competition.

Romeo, who presents the Clyde 1’s Scotland-wide In:Demand show, said: “I’ve heard a lot about Ladies’ Night at Hamilton Park Racecourse and how popular the Best Dressed Lady contest is.

“I’m really looking forward to presenting the catwalk show with Knoxy, who of course is a veteran from past Ladies’ Nights, and I’m pretty sure the competition to be crowned the evening’s most glamorous woman will fierce on the night.

Knoxy added: “I’m sure a charmer like Romeo will be a popular addition to the competition this year. Then again, the ladies taking part might be too busy strutting their stuff on the catwalk and looking fabulous to take any notice of him.”

The pair can also expect a boost in competitor numbers following the announcement last week that Saturday’s competition will feature a total prize fund of £3,000, with the best-dressed lady walking away with £1,000 in cash and other goodies.

Fashion partners for Ladies’ Night, Tresor Paris, have also contributed £400-worth of jewellery to the competition prize haul.

Other prizes include a Hamilton Park hospitality package for four at next year’s fixture, an overnight stay for two in a suite at the Dakota Hotel and the use of a BWM Z4 for the weekend, courtesy of Douglas Park.

A £100 champagne lunch voucher for the plush Blythswood Square hotel has also been included, as has a cultured lunch with wine at KG Cafe in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, courtesy of Encore Hospitality Services.

The job of deciding the finalists this year, and ultimately the Best Dressed Lady, falls to racecourse chief executive, Vivien Kyles, Paula Poole from Tresor Paris and former Mr Scotland and previous competition judge, Craig McGinlay, director of EP Sports Consultancy.

Vivien Kyles said: “We are delighted to welcome back Diane (Knoxy) this year, and to introduce Romeo to the glamorous world of Hamilton Park’s Ladies’ Night. I’m sure he will be a hit with the competitors taking to the catwalk.

“We are also pleased to welcome Paula to the judging panel. I’m sure as a representative of Tresor Paris, she will also be interested in the jewellery our competitors wear as well as their outfits. And in terms of bringing a male perspective to the competition, it is great to have Craig involved again this year.”

As well as a fantastic Super Six card for the racing purists, Ladies’ Night at Hamilton Park will also feature a shopping marquee in the picturesque racecourse grounds, offering a range of clothing, beauty, photography and accessories for those women keen to further enhance their wardrobes in between the evening’s racing programme.

Additional highlights designed to keep the ladies entertained this year include a champagne bar, staffed by topless barmen serving cocktails, and live post-racing music from Millennium – The Ultimate Robbie Williams Tribute.
