ANOTHER new out-of-town restaurant has been fitted out by Pacific Building for pub and dining giants, Mitchells & Butlers.

The Harvester at Glasgow Fort is the fifth project completed by Pacific for M&B – following the successful completion of the Meadowpark in Bridge of Allan, the Toby Carvery at Braehead, near Glasgow, The Goose in Glasgow and Browns and Hunters Tryst, both in Edinburgh.

And with further work for M&B programmed for the months ahead, Pacific are continuing to build a substantial order book for a portfolio of clients that includes a host of household names.

Pacific are the first and only Scottish contractors retained by Mitchells & Butlers, whose stable of brands also includes All Bar One and O’Neill’s.

Pacific, who employ 32 people at their headquarters at Hillington, on the outskirts of Glasgow, have been signed up to construct or fit out a number outlets for the English-based plc, who operate 1,600 pubs and restaurants across the UK and whose annual turnover is in excess of £1.7 billion.

The Harvester at Glasgow Fort is located in a new extension to the shopping park that houses a Vue cinema and four other restaurants. The six-figure contract involved a complete fit-out of the shell structure, including high-end fixtures and fittings and other striking features. It took just eight weeks to complete and it has just opened for business.

Pacific managing director, Brian Gallacher – who is able to proclaim that his company are the only Scottish contractors serving burger empire McDonald’s, pub chain JD Wetherspoon, bakery firm Greggs as well as Mitchells & Butlers – said: “This is another great success for us.

“Winning the contract with Mitchells & Butlers was an astounding achievement, especially during the current economic downturn, which has proved extremely difficult for the construction sector right across the UK and the rest of the world.

“Now it’s good to see some of the M&B projects come to fruition, including the Harvester, which will be a valuable addition to the Glasgow Fort shopping experience and to the area generally.

“We’re proud to deliver high quality, and our business is built on the strength of our relationships with our clients.

“We have enjoyed continued growth, in part through our associations with global and UK brands who continue to develop their business. By continually meeting and exceeding their expectations, we are rewarded with greater volumes of work. Our growth has continued to exceed our budgeted plans and is a credit to the efforts of the team here.”
