IN June 2011, Jacqueline Gold, chief executive of Ann Summers and Knickerbox, launched a campaign to support women in business.
Women On Wednesday is run through Jacqueline’s Twitter page. Jacqueline picks her three top entries and re-tweets them to her followers (currently over 35,000).
When selecting the three winners, Jacqueline looks for businesses that are interesting, that have strong brand values and that she thinks have potential to grow and succeed in their industry.
She looks for quality products, well-designed websites and entrepreneurs who appear to have a good business sense and who have thought about what the consumer wants and how to deliver it.
Porridge on Tuesday, a Scottish business aimed at providing healthy eating plans to women across the UK is delighted to have won this award, the first since its launch in January of this year.
Elaine Taylor, owner of Porridge on Tuesday, posted on her blog: “As I decided to go into a market dominated by fads, I knew it was going to be a very long, slow and hard road.
“So, this week, when my little website was chosen by Jacqueline Gold as a winner of her #WOW competition I did a little mini high-five to myself.”
Porridge on Tuesday provides women with a healthy eating plan with a choice of calories to suit their own goals ranging from 1,250 to 1,950 calories a day.
Every week, its users will receive
- A full menu plan with breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks
- Recipes for all meals
- A Personal shopping list
- A suggested exercise plan
- Support via a closed Facebook group to help you achieve your goal
With more than 200 breakfasts, 650 lunches, 925 dinners and 150 snacks and the ability to add in meals and exercises, this is a very personal way to enjoy healthy eating with the ability to cater for any dietary preferences be it dairy free, meat free, gluten free, or, as one user describes themselves, ‘just plain fussy’.
