Media Release: Print sponsor announced for North-east hockey team

A LOCAL reprographics firm has shown its support for Aberdeen’s premier ice hockey team by sponsoring the printing needs of the club during the upcoming season.

North East Reprographics (NER), based in Aberdeen, will provide the Aberdeen Lynx ice hockey team with print sponsorship for the next season, which will allow the club to create an official programme.

NER, which supplies Xerox machines and services including printers and copiers throughout the UK and Europe, will support all the printing needs of the Lynx, which will include producing a new club programme, all promotional materials including posters and leaflets for games, and branded Lynx pucks, which will be on sale at home games.

The Aberdeen Lynx, which competes in the Scottish National League, had to start a new campaign for the sport and team, after the ice rink was closed by the council in 2008.

Since re- opening, the team and committee has been working tirelessly to get the club the recognition it deserves.

NER group managing director, John Sheran, said “As a local company, it is important that we show support to our local sports teams, especially clubs that don’t have as strong a following as other sports in the city such as football and rugby.

“The team suffered when the ice rink was shut in 2008, but they have shown their strength and passion for the sport by fighting back, so it is great if NER can help them develop into stronger club.”

Chair of the Lynx, Alan Forsyth, said: “We are delighted to have NER on board as print sponsor for the team this year. Loyal fans have been keen to see an official programme so they can learn more about the team and also the sport, so it is fantastic that we are now able to provide this.

“Our sponsors are truly fundamental in helping the club to not only grow but also improve so we can provide the fans with a better game experience.”

The Lynx, is currently preparing for the forthcoming season under their new coach, Rod Ramsay, with training sessions twice a week.

The team’s first home game will take place at the Aberdeen Linx Ice Arena on the Beach Promenade on Saturday 7 September against the Dundee Comets.

Tickets are priced at £6 for adults, £4 for kids.
