Media Release: Newton and Fearn get all dolled up at The Avenue

NEWTON and Fearn, the ever-popular life-sized mall mascots at The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns, have been getting all dolled up!

The popularity of the mascots with kids has prompted the Avenue to produce a range of mini mascot Newton and Fearn dolls to offer kids at the Avenue in return for a £5 donation per doll with all profits going to The Avenue’s nominated charity East Renfrewshire Good Causes.

Newton and Fearn made their first stroll down The Avenue two years ago to launch the Funday Sunday; the regular programme of festivities for families seeking fresh ways to entertain the kids over the weekend – for free!

The popular pair have been making a personal appearance every fourth Sunday since.

Designed to appeal to kids – and the young at heart of all ages – Newton and Fearn lend The Avenue real appeal as a destination venue for families over the weekend.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “A scientist, Newton knows the answers to everything – or at least he thinks so – while Fearn is a rag doll with her own distinctive sense of style.

A bright and creative personality – much more creative than Newton – she just loves colouring in and encouraging others to join her!”

The link up with East Renfrewshire Good Causes means that all profits generated from sales of Newton and Fearn mini-mascot dolls are donated to the local charity to the benefit of the local community.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “The Avenue has a long and proud tradition of raising considerable funds for charitable causes, thanks to the generosity of the people of East Renfrewshire.

“Our mini-mascot Newton and Fearn dolls are just the latest example of our charitable projects and commitment to the local community.”

The Avenue Shopping Centre, managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
