THE winners of the Alea Las Vegas and Alea Superstar competitions have been revealed.

Alea Glasgow, recognised as Scotland’s biggest gaming venue, teamed up with 102.5 Clyde 1 to give one lucky listener the chance to walk away with a fantastic trip for two to Las Vegas – and another lucky and talented listener the chance to take centre stage at Alea.

And last week Christine Carrick from Condorrat, Cumbernauld, won a fantastic five-day trip for two to Las Vegas, staying in Caesars Palace (which, like Alea, is part of Caesars Entertainment) with all flights and £500 spending money thrown in.

A delighted Christine said: “I was really overwhelmed when I won the prize – nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I am just so grateful to the competition organisers!

“My daughter Roseanne, 25, and myself had gone for a night out at Alea and couldn’t believe it when I wound up winning the prize! Like myself, Roseanne is a nurse and we’re both really excited about jetting off to Vegas next year – neither of us has ever been to America before!”

And 24 year-old Lizzie Murphy, a call centre worker from Airdrie, was named the winner of the first ever Alea Superstar competition.

Lizzie’s winning performance came after two weeks of intense competition involving a judging panel sifting through hundreds of entries to select the top ten singing acts who then performed live at a special event at Alea hosted by presenter, Gina McKee, in front of a packed audience of 150 people and broadcast live on Grant Thomson’s Clyde 1 drive time show.

Lizzie’s breathtaking performance of Lucie Silvas’ ‘What You’re Made Of’ proved the ultimate winner following the decision of a judging panel comprising Alea MD Paul Rety, Clyde 1 DJ Romeo and entertainment agency Hireaband MD Del Cotton.

As well as winning a month-long residency in Alea’s Long Bar (which provides free live entertainment every weekend), Lizzie’s prize includes a session in a recording studio and the opportunity to be signed by Hireaband.

Winner Lizzie said: “I’m absolutely thrilled! I’ve entered singing competitions before, but only ever been a runner-up – so to finally win is fantastic! I’d like to thank everyone involved for giving me this wonderful opportunity and I can’t wait to get back on stage and into the recording studio!”

With show stopping live entertainment, a luxurious casino, gaming floor and three cool bars, Alea casino on the Clyde at Springfield Quay has a package to suit everyone and every budget. It boasts 16 gaming tables including Punto Banco, Roulette, Blackjack and 3 card poker, as well as daily poker tournaments and cash poker tables.
