STIRLING-based Macfarlane Gray, part of leading mid-tier accountancy firm, French Duncan, has presented a bumper cheque for more than £3,750 to the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund.

Established by Eilidh Brown’s parents in the memory of their daughter, who died from cancer just days short of her 16th birthday, the charity aims to build and maintain a respite holiday home in the Stirling area for young people and their families who are in treatment for cancer.

Hazel Burt, tax director at Macfarlane Gray, said: “We have been fundraising for the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund over the course of the last year through a variety of events, including: a coffee morning; a guess the baby picture competition; ten pin bowling; raffles; dress-down days and baking.

“Over the year, different teams within the office did some fundraising activity every quarter so that we were all involved; but particular mention has to be given to our tax manager, Tom Settle, who completed the Pedal Scotland cycle event dressed in his onesie!

“Thanks to the efforts of all fundraisers and donors, we were delighted to be able to present Eilidh’s parents with a cheque for the grand total of £3,752.49, which I know will be used to help build and maintain a much-needed respite holiday home.”

Meanwhile, the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund is organising a concert featuring a variety of acts, including The Fratellis, on 17th Jan 2014 at the Macrobert Centre, Stirling at 7pm.

Tickets, priced £25, are now on sale for ‘For the Love of Eilidh’ and are available on tel 01786 466666.
