Media Release: Leasing up funds for North-east cancer charity

A LEADING North-east leasing firm has shown its commitment to a North-east cancer charity by raising a five-figure sum through various fundraising events.

Aberdeen Property Leasing (APL), which has been servicing the North-east with leasing options for more than 35 years, has successfully managed to raise over £15,000 for cancer support charity, CLAN, with employees and the company taking part in different fundraising activities throughout last year.

As APL’s chosen charity for 2013, the ladies of APL decided to support CLAN’s Landmark Walk, which saw them tackling a 13-mile route around 30 prominent spots and landmarks throughout Aberdeen.

The men of APL also did their part by ditching their shaving routines to showcase a new tenant above their upper lip for Movember.

Both activities managed to raise nearly £3,000, and the company promised to double each total.

The experienced leasing firm, based in the city’s Rosemount area, also supported the charity by attending, sponsoring and donating an auction prize to their biggest fundraiser, the CLAN Christmas Cracker, taking their overall fundraising total to over £15,000.

Alan Pirie, director of APL, said: “Throughout the year, the whole team at APL got involved with the different fundraising efforts, from growing a moustache to walking across the city, in order to raise vital funds for our chosen charity.

“Even at times when we are extremely busy, everyone worked really hard to raise as much as we could for CLAN, as it is such an important cause, close to many of the team’s hearts.”

APL has already promised to maintain its support to CLAN for another four years, with employees already starting to plan different events for 2014, in order to beat their total raised this year.

Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said: “We are delighted that Aberdeen Property Leasing has supported CLAN for the past year and very grateful that they have chosen to support us for the next four years.

“We are continually overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses, as without these donations we wouldn’t be able to provide our service throughout the North-east of Scotland.

“We are looking forward to working with APL and their fundraising efforts in 2014.”

APL manages an average of 1,500 properties in the area, and offers guidance on all aspects of property leasing and maintenance, as well as rent collection and administration.

The firm recently added to their property portfolio by launching a serviced apartments division, to cater for both corporate and private use.

The apartments, which are all predominately west end and city centre based, provide the ideal solution when faced with the difficult challenge of tracking down hotel rooms in the centre of town.
