A KARATE team sponsored by award-winning Downhole Products has won an impressive 16 medals at the sport’s World Championships in Germany – with the company’s very own Nissara Kirk taking back four out of the 16 medals.

Members of Aberdeen’s National Karate Federation (NKF) of Scotland recently attended the World Karate Open Championships in Munich, Germany and Portlethen-based Downhole Products provided a financial boost by meeting the cost of entry fees for the clubs participants.

Downhole Products are world market leaders in the design, manufacture and supply of casing accessories and completion tools such as centralisers, reamer guide shoes and cable clamp protectors.

The company recently unveiled a new range of cementing equipment which has been brought to the market following two years of development.

The Aberdeen-based squad includes representatives from throughout the North East and they scooped the accolades across the board, including individual and team events in the men’s, women’s and junior sections.

NKF president and 8th Dan Karate Master, Ronnie Watt OBE, said: “This was one of the best performances the team has ever put in at a World Open, and it has resulted in invitations for us to visit from all over the world.”

Ian Kirk, of Downhole Products, commented: “We are delighted that the team enjoyed such a successful trip to Germany and I am particularly proud of my daughter, Nissara Kirk, who received three bronze and one silver medal in individual and team events.”
