Media Release: Exova wins major defence contract

EDINBURGH-headquartered Exova – the global testing, calibration and advisory services provider – has won a major contract with FMV, the Swedish Defence Material Administration, worth a potential £24.5 million over seven years.

The contract, to supply testing, advising and training services in materials technology and metrology to the Swedish Defence Authority, represents confirmation of Exova’s strength within these areas. Based on a three-year programme with 2 + 2 year extensions, the work will also include the provision of technical services to the Swedish Armed Forces.

Hans Åberg, managing director of Exova Metech and Exova Materials Technology Sweden, comments: “This contract further confirms Exova’s position as one of the leading providers of technically demanding services to the defence and technology industries.

“We build long-term relationships with clients based on trust and this contract confirms our expertise in the highly sensitive and technically advanced defence sector.”

The work spans a wide range of materials, and will see experts from Exova Materials Technology in Sweden work as consultants to FMV in composite repair technology, polymer bonding and sealing technology, welding and brazing technology, coatings technology and fuel and lubricant technology for defence applications.

The contract also includes the provision of metrological and calibration services for measurement tools and instruments to FMV and Swedish Armed Forces by Exova Metech, the calibration and metrology division of Exova.
