LEADING crowdfunding platform, Angels Den, has become the first angel investment platform to join a new funding portal aimed at supporting SMEs turned down by the banks.
The alternativebusinessfunding.co.uk portal, which brings market-leading alternative financers together for the first time under one umbrella, launched with a flourish just six weeks ago.
Angels Den joins the portal just as the consultation period into whether or not the government should legislate to help match SMEs that have been rejected for loans with alternative finance providers who are looking to offer finance has ended.
The consultation has been hailed as an important watershed for businesses looking for finance.
SMEs looking for non-bank funding will now be able to access an angel investment option, as well as an additional crowdfunding platform, via Angels Den.
The existing participants already cover 85 per cent of the alternative business funding market* and the addition of Angels Den now broadens the range of funding options on offer through the portal.
Thousands have already used the free and simple funding traffic-light system to find an appropriate solution.
With more than 6,000 investors, Angels Den has already enjoyed six years of working with great businesses, matching hundreds of entrepreneurs with thousands of well-connected investors, to the tune of more than £16 million worth of investment.
Angels Den has a great track record of successfully funding growing businesses through their unique SpeedFunding and Angel Club events and now offers SMEs the opportunity to pitch online via their crowdfunding platform.
Angels Den founder and CEO, Bill Morrow, said: “We are delighted to join the portal. It’s already been a great success and Angels Den will provide another option for SMEs that have been excluded or rejected from traditional bank funding.”
Adam Tavener, chair of pensionledfunding.com, said: “We are delighted to have Angels Den on board at such a critical time for the non-bank funding sector.
“With our submission to the Government consultation on bank referrals we are hoping for a positive outcome to support SMEs finding a simple and easy solution to accessing non-bank funding, especially without paying for advice, through our portal.”

ABOUT ANGEL INVESTMENT
Angel investment is a form of equity funding enabling entrepreneurs and business owners to sell part of their business’s shares to an affluent individual known as an angel investor, angel or business angel, in exchange for the much needed capital to fund further growth.
Many people view angel investors solely as a route to getting a cash injection for their business, but many also offer their expertise, support, business experience and contacts that entrepreneurs can leverage to benefit their business.
ABOUT ANGELS DEN
Angels Den is the world’s first integrated angel investing and crowdfunding platform. They have an established network of over 6,000 investors, between them offering a wealth of experience and a proven track record of getting great businesses funded.
Angels Den has already been successfully matching entrepreneurs and investors for the past six years, with a great track record of successfully funding growing businesses through their unique SpeedFunding and Angel Club events, Angels Den now offers SMEs the opportunity to pitch online via their crowdfunding platform.
Angels Den allows entrepreneurs and business owners the opportunity to raise funding quickly and easily, with support and guidance along the way.
Angels Den is the only company to offer pitching to angel investors on a one-to-one basis through their unique and exciting SpeedFunding events. SpeedFunding is a highly effective matching mechanism with 90 per cent of business owners finding at least one interested angel investor.
Alternativebusinessfunding.co.uk provides a free and easy way for SMEs to find alternative business funding — especially those with an interest in the non-bank business funding sector.
They are focused on making it simple for time-constrained business-owners to find the right funder to contact, with only a few simple questions and no personal contact information required to use the site.
The unique collaboration brings together the market-leaders for the main forms of alternative business funding for SME finance, so all types of funding from short to long-term loans/debt/equity or self-investing are covered. Initial funding associates cover over 85 per cent of the alternative business funding market in equity crowdfunding, invoice trading, peer-to-peer and pension-led funding, with more to join the collaboration in the future.
Launched this year on March 11th, before the Government Referral consultation was announced, alternativebusinessfunding.co.uk is committed to a campaign to create a more collaborative environment for business funding aimed at simplifying SME owners’ search for finance to help support their businesses and also a place for the major Banks to redirect customers. It is supported by The CBI.
