RESIDENTS of Aberdeen’s only independently-owned private nursing home have enjoyed an afternoon of nostalgia, thanks to a vintage afternoon tea.

The event was held for residents of the Milltimber facility and featured mouth-watering home bakes, afternoon tea served in fine china cups and entertainment thanks to representatives of the Friends of Hawkhill organisation which supports activities throughout the year.

Len and Isobel Bain were on hand with a 1920s gramophone and records whilst Irene Furneaux shared her collection of antique music boxes, including one which dates back to the 1850s.

Commenting on the event, Hawkhill House Nursing Home owner and managing director, Rona Tayler, said: “Our residents have the opportunity to enjoy a broad range of activities, ranging from craft sessions and singing to outings and barbecues.

“Many of these are supported by the Friends of Hawkhill and we are very grateful to these volunteers for all their help.

“In addition to the regular calendar, we frequently host one-off special occasions such as this vintage afternoon tea to offer interesting and stimulating events which are enjoyed by as many residents as possible.”

Hawkhill House Nursing Home is located at 234 North Deeside Road, Milltimber, Aberdeen, AB13 0DQ.
