AWARD-winning international best-selling author Jeffery Deaver celebrated his 64th birthday in style this week – by returning to The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns for the only Scottish date on his UK tour to launch The Skin Collector.
A sell-out crowd of 120 helped ensure the writer’s return visit was triumphant whilst Waterstone’s helped get the birthday celebrations started by presenting him with a special birthday cake featuring the cover of his latest book.
Last at The Avenue two years ago to sign copies of his James Bond book Carte Blanche, Deaver returned to read from and sign copies of The Skin Collector, his new Lincoln Rhyme novel and the much anticipated follow-up to The Bone Collector, in a free event organised by Waterstone’s and held at Primavera.
Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “The fact that Jeffery chose to return to The Avenue to launch his new book on his birthday speaks volumes about the reception that authors receive here at The Avenue.
“The launch proved to be a great success, with many readers grasping the opportunity to speak to their favourite author. We look forward to welcoming Jeffery back to the Avenue the next time he’s in town – whether or not it’s his birthday!”
The Avenue Shopping Centre, managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
