Media Release: Offshore specialist completes £2m investment in integrated services

Fisher

FISHER Offshore has completed a £2million investment programme as part of a move which has brought fluid solutions to the heart of the firm’s growing integrated offering.

The specialist in lifting, deck machinery, subsea tooling and excavation is targeting further growth and new markets as the next stage of its development gathers momentum.

As part of that strategy, Buchan Technical Services (BTS), the offshore pump and reel specialist which has been part of the James Fisher and Sons group since 2007, will fall under the Fisher Offshore umbrella to form a new fluid solutions division.

The experienced BTS team has relocated to offices within Fisher Offshore’s headquarters at Oldmeldrum, with the yard and workshsop also part of the same complex, following the £2million investment in its equipment inventory.

Jack Davidson, Fisher Offshore’s operations director, said: “Our prime emphasis for 2014 is on providing fully integrated solutions as part of a strategic approach designed to respond to the evolving requirements of the industry worldwide.

“Fluid solutions fits perfectly within that remit and we are delighted to have the knowledge, expertise and experience of the existing team as a vital part of our package.

“It is an exciting time for Fisher Offshore and the fluid solutions team, on the back of significant investment in new generation equipment.

“That programme underlines our commitment to playing a leading role in the sector.

“Whilst embracing advances in technology is vital, what we recognise is that the key strength is in the skills of a team which has demonstrated its ability in the field for many years.

“Clients of BTS will continue to work with the team they know well, but with the benefit of being able to tap into Fisher Offshore’s wider services.”

The fluid services division offers a comprehensive rental equipment list which includes centrifugal pumps and positive displacement pumps – including the exclusive provision of HT400 pumps – as well as umbilical reels, hoses and other key equipment. A recruitment department and project management services are also well established.

The £2m investment programme was completed with the delivery of a range of hose reels which have been mobilised for deployment in Norway, with an established base in Malaysia aiding global opportunities.

Dedicated yard testing facilities are also a key part in the ambitious plans for the fluid services division.

Working with a number of key operators and service companies, the unique research and development facility enables the team to simulate downhole conditions for testing tools and other upstream and downstream technologies.

Jack Davidson added: “The yard testing enables us to perform rigorous tests of our own pumps and equipment but it is something we have been able to open up to the industry and the demand is growing in line with the developments and investment in the sector.

“We envisage R&D becoming more and more prominent in the months and years ahead.”
