Media Release: Photo call – the Scottish Parliament, 12.30pm, Wednesday 11th June; outside the public entrance

CUCKOO’S cupcakes leave the Scottish Parliament on their campaign trail, with Alex Johnstone, MSP, for the ‘NOs’, Marco Biagi, MSP, for the ‘YES’ campaign, and a member of the public who remains undecided.

The success of the Cuckoo’s Cupcake Referendum Opinion Poll has been embraced by all parties and now the cupcakes are set to leave on the campaign trail.

Members of the public are being invited to take a photograph of a Cuckoo’s referendum cupcake of their choice in locations throughout Scotland, emailing the result to Cuckoos who will publish the best photographs on their Facebook page.

In line with Cuckoo’s quirky nature, the more unusual the location the better and at the time of the referendum, on the 18th September, a winner with the most interesting location will be chosen by the Cuckoo’s Bakery team and awarded a year’s supply of cupcakes. Cuckoo’s decision will be final.

Graham Savage said: “We are excited with the success of our opinion poll which is being taken seriously by the political commentators and has caused debate and engagement amongst our customers.”

The public are asked to email their photographic entries to hello@cuckoosbakery.co.uk

Last week’s results of the opinion poll were:

YES – 28.6 per cent (down 5.8 per cent)

NO – 46.9 per cent (no change)

UNDECIDED – 24.5 per cent (up 5.8 per cent)

Cuckoo’s Bakery are thrilled that last month they won the Best Cake in Scotland Award reinforcing their reputation for scrumptious cupcakes.

Results will continue to be released on a fortnightly basis; however, on the day, results will also be available on request. Cuckoo’s hope to achieve sales of 10,000 referendum cupcakes by 18th September which will give a very good indication of public opinion.

Cuckoo’s founders, the fabulous best friends Graham and Vidya, turned their baking fantasy into a successful reality. In October 2011 Cuckoo’s was recognised by none other than Cosmopolitan Magazine who have included Cuckoo’s Bakery in their list of ten; ‘Cupcakes and tea – the best in Britain’.

Cuckoo’s Bakery is a cupcake shop with a difference and it comes to no surprise that Cosmopolitan recognised this, describing them as a ‘cute little bakery’ with ‘inventive cupcakes’
