?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

FRENCH Duncan, one of Scotland’s largest and fastest-growing accountancy practices, has today (17.06.14) acquired Abercrombie Gemmell Chartered Accountants.

Says a spokesperson: “Founded by Colin and Christine Abercrombie 23 years ago, Abercrombie Gemmell is a Bearsden-based practice with 12 staff and a turnover of £1m delivering a wide range of services, from tax and audit to wealth planning.

“All Abercrombie Gemmell staff and partners have now relocated to French Duncan’s impressive new Grade A office space on the ninth and tenth floors at 133 Finnieston Street, Glasgow and Abercrombie Gemmell will be rebranded as French Duncan.”

Colin Abercrombie said: “In order to continue to offer the commitment to the delivery of a personal, high quality, proactive service, the time is right for Abercrombie Gemmell to become part of like-minded, progressive French Duncan.

“Myself and my colleagues are totally committed to the future of the new, enlarged operation and are genuinely excited about the service quality enhancements that this development will offer our existing clients.”

Commenting on the acquisition, French Duncan managing partner, Graeme Finnie, said: “We are delighted to secure the services of Colin Abercrombie and that of his experienced team. Colin is an acknowledged business developer who is very commercial and well respected. We welcome his raft of experience, contacts and business development skills to our firm.

“The complementary nature of this development enables the new, combined entity to provide a greater platform of services and skills for our clients. While as a firm, we will always consider good acquisition opportunities, Abercrombie Gemmell stood out for a number of reasons: the quality of its team and the calibre of its client base.

“Moreover, the chance to retain the services of someone with Colin’s drive and ability was an opportunity we just couldn’t pass up. This acquisition is just one more step for us down the road to becoming Scotland’s premier independent accountancy firm.”

The spokesperson added: “This latest development follows French Duncan’s recent merger with Stirling-based Macfarlane Gray and marks the latest stage in a sustained period of growth and development that has seen the firm: achieve a six per cent rise in UK fee income; join worldwide advisory network HLB International; secure various key senior personnel appointments; invest considerably in its infrastructure and land more than 500 new clients in its last financial year.”
