THE Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns will be central to you this summer as the popular mall hosts a range of free entertainment activities as part of Scotland’s summer of sport from Mondays through to Thursdays from 12pm till 4pm for six weeks.

The fun kicks off on Monday 30th June through to Thursday 3rd July with an interactive Scalextric event in the mall – sure to appeal to kids of all ages – followed the next week by carpet curling – all the competitiveness and fun of curling without the ice – on Monday 7th July till Thursday 10th July.

Glasgow Science Centre Fit Labs, a pulse-raising interdisciplinary experience allowing the exploration of endurance, strength, agility, speed and coordination through a range of zoned exhibits, will be at the mall from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th July.

The second half of the school summer holidays will see a series of fun free events taking place at the Avenue’s new public realm space on Ayr Road. A crazy golf course offers fun for all the family to compete against each other from Monday 21st through to Thursday 24th July followed by donkey rides on the week beginning Monday 28th July till Thursday 31st July.

The final week of free summer fun culminates with an al fresco funzone, including four bed trampoline, slide, softplay and featuring the Irn Bru bus and other activities with AG Barr, from Monday 4th till Thursday 7th August.

Michelle McCabe, Centre Manager at The Avenue, said: “Parents of children at school age need no longer worry about how to occupy the kids over the long summer months – now they can combine the family shopping trip with a whole range of free fun family activities!”

The Avenue’s series of free weekly themed summer entertainment events runs Monday to Thursday from 12pm till 4pm.
