ON the 20th June a new, 60-seat training and conference centre was officially opened by TV presenter, Fiona Armstrong, and is available for hire to local businesses and voluntary organisations.
The Benreay Training and Conference Centre is situated on the edge of Lockerbie in a peaceful location and has a 60-seat auditorium equipped with cutting-edge audiovisual technology together with a smaller 12-15 seat training rooms and additional breakout rooms.
The facilities are available for week or weekend hire as a whole or as individual rooms with or without catering.
Connections to Lockerbie by road or rail are excellent being one hour from Glasgow one-and-a-half hours from Edinburgh and 25 minutes from Carlisle.
The facilities are used by Common Thread as a training centre for their staff.
Julie Joseph, managing director of Common Thread, said: “I am keen for this excellent resource to be available for local businesses and community organisations. We welcome enquiries from all organisations and dependent on their requirements will assess appropriate charges on an individual basis.”
At the opening by Fiona Armstrong, the ribbon cutting was performed by her with Jordan McAuley, one of the young people who has been in the care of Common Thread. Fiona is currently filming a documentary about Common Thread.
Friends, neighbours, contractors and local businesses were all invited to the opening and were entertained to an inspirational and highly amusing talk by the former captain of the Queen Mary 2, Captain Nick Bates.
