Media Release: Equalizer scoops prestigious award

Steve Gerrity, Equalizer International EEEGR Award

EQUALIZER International, a world leading designer and developer of flange maintenance tools, has won a prestigious award in the UK.

The company has just been named as winner of the Energy Innovation of the Year award in the East of England Energy Group’s (EEEGR) Innovation Awards, held annually to recognise pioneering ideas and ground-breaking technology which can benefit the energy industry.

Due to the high calibre of this year’s nominations, nine finalists presented their innovations in ‘Dragon’s Den’-style pitches to an audience and panel of six eminent judges who were then invited to ask questions before casting their votes.

Winners were then revealed during a gala dinner.

As part of the evaluation criteria for the sought-after accolade, Equalizer International presented a suite of its internationally successful Flange Alignment, Flange Spreading and Flange Closing tools as the ‘best practice’ solution for undertaking any form of flange maintenance work.

The company was established in 1994 in Aberdeen, Scotland, and has since flourished to become the world’s leading designer and supplier of flange maintenance tools for the oil and gas, petrochemical, nuclear, water, mining and renewable energy sectors.

The company has created more than 20 flange maintenance tools as well as a range of hydraulic and mechanical pumps and power lifting tools and its products are now distributed to more than 40 countries.

Commenting on the win, Equalizer International chair and managing director, Ian McCormick, said: “We are delighted to announce that we have added this award to the company’s clutch of accolades which recognise our achievements during the past two decades.

“The EEEGR award is particularly significant as the eight other finalists included products and solutions from large international companies such as Aker Solutions, Selex and James Fisher Group and this win clearly underlines our success within our chosen markets.”

EEEGR CEO, Simon Gray, added: “EEEGR was delighted with both the quantity and quality of entries this year.

“Given the very stiff international level of competition that there was for the awards it is hugely gratifying to see an SME come up with a world-class solution to an international and multi industry problem.

“Traditional flange maintenance working practices can result in hand or limb injuries or even digit loss but these tools can overcome these issues.

“This simple and safe range of products is exactly what industry needs offering a low cost, efficient and elegant solution to an age old problem.”
