ABERDEEN’S premier ice hockey club is organising its first ever awards dinner dance, to celebrate the achievements of its players and its development over the past few years.

The Aberdeen Lynx Ice Hockey Club, which has been playing in the Scottish National League for the past four years since the re-opening of the Linx Ice Arena, is hosting its inaugural awards dinner dance, at the Hilton Treetops Hotel on 16 August 2014.

This is the first awards dinner dance to be organised by the team and will consist of an awards ceremony, followed by a three-course meal and a variety of entertainment throughout the evening.

All funds raised by the ball will go towards the development of the junior teams. Ages of the players range from under-ten’s to under-20’s, with children as young as three joining the sport.

Captain of the Aberdeen Lynx, Jordan Leyden, said: “As this is our first event like this, we are hoping to really pull out all the stops for the evening. This event is something we want to produce yearly from now on and it’s great to see so many people interested in the dinner dance already.

“It’s important for us to continuously develop the team and being a non-profit organisation it can be difficult to gather necessary funding.

“The progression of our younger players will allow the team to develop and succeed, and we hope that the funds raised from the ball will help us develop the team and make our Aberdeen supporters proud.”

Tickets for the ball are priced at £50 for an individual ticket, £500 for a table of ten and £600 for fans who would like an Aberdeen Lynx player to join their table of ten.

The event is strictly black tie and will also include a raffle, auction and champagne reception.
