AN Aberdeen-based charity, which provides sensory services for blind and deaf people in Scotland, is calling upon local businesses and people to support its primary fundraising event.

North East Sensory Services (NESS) is hosting its fifth annual ball at the Mercure Ardoe House Hotel on Saturday 7 March 2015 to raise vital funds to support the work of the charity in the North-east.

NESS is one of the leading providers of sensory services for blind and deaf people in Scotland. With 45 staff and over 150 volunteers, it supports over 4,000 people to overcome the practical and emotional effects of serious sight and/or hearing loss. The charity, which was formerly known as the Grampian Society for the Blind, provides assistive technology, employment advice and a variety of support groups for people of all ages from babies to the elderly.

In 2014, the ball was a sell-out success, raising more than £20,000. This year’s black-tie event, sponsored by AMPLUS and Stronachs, will include a live auction and entertainment from renowned party band the Bogus Brothers.

Neil Skene, fundraising officer at NESS, said: “We rely largely on the generosity of the general public and local businesses. We are incredibly grateful to those who take tables at the ball and contribute so much on the night itself. We hope that this event goes from strength to strength and that it continues to be a highlight in the local social calendar.”

A limited number of tables are still available priced at £1,000 for a table of ten and sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses, which wish to support the Spring Ball.

NESS is also looking for prize donations to help with fundraising on night.
