WILDE Thyme at Glenturret, an exciting new partnership between the award winning luxury event caterers Wilde Thyme and five-star visitor attraction, The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, has officially opened its doors, and marked the occasion with its first award just a few short weeks after opening to the public.

The Comrie-based caterers celebrated their official launch in style by hosting a party at Glenturret Distillery, alongside their new distillery partners, and filled the 240 year-old distillery with members of the local community eager to come in, soak up the atmosphere and sample the new culinary creations on offer.

Wilde Thyme at Glenturret offers among the very best of local produce from ‘Scotland’s larder’ in the visitor café and restaurant, as well as providing corporate and leisure event catering at Scotland’s oldest distillery, giving visitors an unique and memorable taste of Perthshire.

The launch of the new venture has been led by Wilde Thyme’s chef patron, Andrew Hamer, supported by head chef, Jonathan Greer.

Working closely with the team at The Famous Grouse Experience the café and restaurant now offers a world-class culinary experience to match the award-winning visitor attraction.

Andrew Hamer, previously the executive chef at Gleneagles Hotel, has created exclusive menus showcasing the innovative dishes Wilde Thyme produce and there are plans to incorporate whisky, produced at the distillery, into the menus.

Despite only taking over the restaurant a few short weeks ago, the occasion was also marked with the eatery’s first accolade – a Taste Our Best award the new Quality Assurance food and drink scheme from VisitScotland.

Says a spokesperson: “This accreditation affirms the quality of the locally sourced ingredients and assures visitors know they’re experiencing the very best of Scottish produce.”

Andrew, chef patron of Wilde Thyme, commented:

“We are delighted to be celebrating the official opening of Wilde Thyme at Glenturret with prominent members of the local community and tourism market. Our vision is to offer diners an authentic taste of Perthshire and we are sure that our guests will get a flavour of how delicious Perthshire can taste at our launch and spread the word about our new café and restaurant.

“I am also thrilled to be presented with the VisitScotland Taste Our Best accreditation, an award that reflects our passion for using the very best of Scottish produce with locally sourced ingredients.”

Andrew continued:

“It is great to be working with The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, another local business and we are enjoying marrying our knowledge of some of the finest food and drink in the world.”

Patrick O’Shaughnessy, industry relationship manager at VisitScotland, presented Andrew with the new eatery’s Taste Our Best award.

Patrick commented:

“Wilde Thyme at Glenturret is already a winning collaboration between two outstanding Scottish businesses. I would like to congratulate both Wilde Thyme and The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery on working together to enhance their offering to the public.

“We know that visitors enjoy authentic, quality traditional food and drink, with many willing to pay up to 15 per cent more for food that they know is of local origin. By sourcing and promoting local produce and securing the Taste Our Best award, businesses have a real opportunity to boost both their finances and their reputation. I am sure that tourists from all over the world visiting the distillery will thoroughly enjoy the delicious and memorable food experience now available at Wilde Thyme at Glenturret.”

Stuart Cassells, general manager at The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, added:

“This new partnership has enabled us to have a vibrant combination of food and drink of the highest quality at the distillery and we are proud to be able to collaborate with the creative talents of Andrew and his team at Wilde Thyme.

“It is great to be able to celebrate this with an official launch event and we hope the local community come to try out some of the delicious dishes available at Wilde Thyme at Glenturret.”
