Media Release: FVC students ready to raise cash for Kidney Kids

Kidney Beans

KIDNEY Kids Scotland are appealing for Forth Valley College students to wear something yellow or blue to help promote World Kidney Day on Thursday 12 March.

Students from the college have already helped the charity as they made a bid to break the world record for the largest Welly Boot Race in September 2014 at Wallace High School in Stirling. Now the challenge is on to help raise funds through this national day of action to help fund a portable Haemo Dialysis machine.

As well as showing their support by wearing yellow and blue on 12 March, several other students will be drinking a glass of water to toast the good health of the human kidney in the ‘Get It Doon Yi!’ promotion.

Student Matthew Hogg, (33) from Stenhousemuir who is on the Introduction to Computing course at the college, will be taking a traditional charity fundraiser and giving it a Kidney Kids twist.

He said: “I will be going into some kind of paddling pool in the Falkirk campus and have the pool filled with kidney beans. It’s for Kidney Kids Scotland – which is a great cause – so we hope to raise as much money as possible.”

Carol Gray a Fundraiser with Kidney Kids Scotland, said: “Three cheers for Matthew! We are all routing for him at Kidney Kids Scotland and are delighted to have him show his support in this way – we think it will certainly help to generate a lot of interest, which is fantastic!

“We have been delighted with the support we have had from students at Forth Valley College in the past and we hope they can come out to show their support on World Kidney Day. They can do this by wearing blue and yellow items of clothing and donating a pound to help raise money for the portable haemo dialysis machine.”
