THE Angus Hotel is celebrating after achieving a Bronze level grading from The Green Tourism Business Scheme, the leading sustainable tourism scheme in the UK.

The Blairgowrie-based hotel performed strongly in their Green Tourism audit winning praise for their work towards reducing their carbon footprint.

Low flow showers, efficient pool temperature settings, heat plate exchangers and generally good recycling practices including a food waste pick up are some of the measures that the hotel have introduced to achieve their new Bronze award status.

As well as acknowledging the work already done, The Green Tourism Business Scheme also provided the hotel team with advice on how they can take their Green status to the next level including developing a green paper policy and creating a ‘Green Team’ with the staff to promote environmentally friendly behaviours.

Murray Scott, manager at The Angus Hotel, commented:

“We are delighted to have been recognised by The Green Tourism Business Scheme with a Bronze Award. We have worked very hard to be more ‘green’ in our approach to all aspects of what we do and this positive feedback has really helped us to continue to drive our approach to being more energy efficient. Plans are already under way following the advice we received so we can be on track to achieve Silver level at the next audit.”
