SIMPSON Booth, a specialist recruitment business and HR consultancy dedicated to the energy sector, has reported a surge in turnover during a rapid period of expansion.

The firm, founded in 2012, closed 2014 with annual turnover of £6.1million.

That figure, up from £870,000 for the previous 12 months, came during a year in which the number of permanent staff increased from nine to 21.

Simpson Booth specialises in tailored outsourced recruitment solutions but also undertakes traditional executive search, contingent recruitment and provides contractors across all disciplines in the sector.

The company was established by managing director, Russell Stewart, and director, Nina El-Imad, both with extensive experience in the international oil and gas industry, and is headquartered in London with a significant presence in Aberdeen.

Despite the challenging market conditions in 2015, they are forecasting further growth as demand for their outsourcing solutions continues to increase. The company recently made a substantial investment in rebranding, underlining its confidence in the prospects for the year ahead.

Russell Stewart said: “Although the immediate focus of the industry is on cost reduction, companies will still need some capability to hire in the short-term and should be thinking ahead to how they will handle the inevitable surge in recruitment activity when the up-cycle comes.

“The unique outsourcing model offered by Simpson Booth provides a cost-effective and scalable solution which has been well-received by companies over the past few months in particular.

“We consider our model to be an ideal offering in the current environment and are consequently viewing the months and years ahead with great confidence.

“Recruitment practices and structures will continue be adapted and the need for efficiency and the reduction of fixed costs has never been greater.

“Simpson Booth has been founded on the principle of simplicity, albeit with sophisticated systems to support that. Our role is to make life easier for our clients and we are content to let the growth of the business speak for itself. We have established a strong client base and a partnership approach which has provided the foundations we are building upon.”

During 2014 Simpson Booth achieved ISO9001:2008 accreditation for its executive search and outsourcing processes, recognition of the company’s commitment to leading the way during a challenging time for the industry.
