SCONE Palace has marked its recent awards success by hosting a celebration with the palace team.

The popular visitor attraction scooped the Rural Tourism Award at the inaugural Scottish Rural Awards, organised by the Scottish Countryside Alliance and Scottish Field which were held at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.

The crowning place of The Kings of Scots, Scone Palace fought off stiff competition from 18 other Scottish rural destinations to take the title.

Sarah Butler, chief executive for Scone Palace, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. This is a real achievement for the team at Scone Palace who welcome our visitors from around the world every year, and who all work very hard to ensure that everyone gets a warm welcome and an unforgettable experience.

“It has been great to celebrate the success with the whole team.”

Sarah continued: “Scone Palace and its grounds attract well over 100,000 visitors every year, as well as the tens of thousands of visitors who attend major events held on the estate such as Rewind Festival and The Scottish Game Fair.

“We are always striving to improve our visitor experience and this award recognises the strong contribution Scone Palace makes as a visitor attraction, local employer and in putting Perthshire on the map as a key Scottish tourist destination.”

Says a spokesperson: “A long-time benchmark of excellence in the countryside, The Scottish Rural Awards have gained significant following and respect for championing and demonstrating the rural industry’s innovation, dedication and aspirations.

“Judged by an esteemed panel of industry leaders and experts, the awards are a rigorous multi-stage process and receive hundreds of applications every year.”

Scone Palace has re-opened for the season and has an exciting schedule of events both in the grounds and inside the Palace over the spring and summer, including the Pink Ribbon Walk on May 16th, Scottish Game Fair from 3rd – 5th July as well as the popular Dido Belle – Her Story exhibition.
