ISposter

THE Clutha is being taken outside Glasgow for the first time – with The Clutha Trust Island Sessions 2015.

The sessions will take place in The Royal George Hotel, Quayhead, Millport, Isle of Cumbrae with the proceedings opened by The Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love (Alabama 3)

The dates are as follows :

Saturday 2nd May - The Very Reverend Dr. D. Wayne Love (Alabama 3) DJ set

“This is the first band I could ever dance to in the daytime hours without chemical assistance… and that says a lot” – Irvine Welsh, author of Trainspotting and Filth

Saturday 13th June – Culann

“Melodic, accessible, complex and challenging” – original music from Ayrshire, Scotland. Winner of the ‘Best Rock’ prize at 2013 Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

Saturday 18th July – Dave Arcari

SLIDE guitarist and songwriter, Dave Arcari’s alt.blues sounds owe as much to trash country, punk and rockabilly as they do pre-war Delta blues and have been showcased via eight internationally-acclaimed solo CD releases.

Official showcases at SxSW in Austin, Texas, were a highlight of Arcari’s month-long tour of the southern US states in March 2015 and follows successful US tours in 2013 and 2014.

Saturday 29th August – Bombskare (Millport Scooter Rally)

Introducing BOMBSKARE, Scotland’s nine-man ska juggernaut – they have been tearing up stages the length and breadth of the British Isles.

Reaching zero to 60 ‘skanking miles’ an hour in the space of three chords, they combine top-quality dance-along songs with well crafted-album tunes. Bigger, better, louder, tighter, harder and faster than the competition – they leave every stage like a city following a visit from Godzilla.

Saturday 19th September – Carlton Jug Band

Carlton Jug Band is a Glasgow based loose-knit country collective. The name is a paean to the old-time music that inspires the choice of music they play. Country and Bluegrass are the main inspirations behind the tunes but they ‘aint afraid to let rip with a few Stones or Soul numbers. Good time vibes and darker reflections are combined in a dynamic set that is guaranteed to get you off your ass and in tears all at the same time.

All events are free with donations to The Clutha Trust welcome.
