SYHA to open additional summer youth hostels in Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow

SYHA Hostelling Scotland is to operate three additional city youth hostels in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth over the busy summer tourist season, as part of its strategy to identify new sites to modernise its popular youth tourism destinations to meet guests’ expectations.

From mid-June to the end of August 2015 Edinburgh Metro, Glasgow Metro (new for 2015) and Perth Youth Hostels will provide an additional 374 bed spaces – Edinburgh 199, Glasgow 110, Perth 65 – to the budget traveller visiting Scotland’s top city destinations.

SYHA will utilise the available city centre student accommodation at Edinburgh University’s halls of residence on the Cowgate and The Glasgow School of Art’s Margaret Macdonald House, together with Perth College’s student residence, a short bus ride from the centre of ‘The Fair City’.

The youth hostels will provide visitors with quality budget accommodation in single, double and twin rooms, some with en suite facilities, and options to suit single travellers, couples, families and groups. They will also offer self-catering kitchens, on site laundry facilities and wifi access.

All three youth hostels are perfectly situated for city tourist attractions, outdoor activities, cultural and music festivals and events, shopping, restaurants and bars; as well as for onward travel to destinations throughout Scotland.

The launch of Edinburgh Metro, Glasgow Metro and Perth Youth Hostels for summer 2015 follows on from the opening of the new Portree Youth Hostel on the Isle of Skye in March.

The plans for the refurbishment and upgrading of the popular Glen Nevis Youth Hostel in Lochaber are also well under way, with phased development work due to start in early 2016.
