Westlife Head to Aberdeen to Perform Exclusive Small Gig for Fans
Pop superstars Westlife are heading to Aberdeen this weekend to perform a special concert exclusively for competition winners.
Loyal listeners of Northsound 1 and Northsound 2 are among those lucky enough to have scooped tickets for Sunday’s gig, which is being held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
This is the latest in a line of treats for pop fans, as Northsound 1 and Northsound 2 also brought Wet Wet Wet to Aberdeen this week, when they performed a set at Enigma for just 100 listeners.
Westlife’s ASDA Be Live! concert is being organised by Emap Radio Events and ASDA in association with Northsound 1 and Northsound 2.
The North-east radio stations also recently secured Travis to play at Aberdeen’s Hogmanay street party.
As well as Nicky, Shane, Mark and Kian, Sunday’s triple bill includes Scottish stars The MacDonald Brothers and Glasgow three-piece Pacific Avenue.
The concert is one of only a handful of gigs being held around the country.
Northsound’s Programme Director Chris Thomson said: ”We are delighted to be working with ASDA to bring Westlife to Aberdeen for this exciting concert, which is only open to competition winners, including many Northsound listeners.
“Westlife are one of the top pop bands in the world and they have always received a huge welcome in Aberdeen and Sunday’s gig will be no different.
“This is the latest fantastic music event to be brought to the North-east by Northsound, on the back of the hugely successful Wet Wet Wet gig at Enigma on Tuesday night for 100 of our listeners, and of course the Free 2007 concert which was enjoyed by more than 30,000 fans a couple of months ago.
“We are proud to be working hard to make sure that the best music acts in the world come to Aberdeen and help to put Aberdeen City and Shire on the map.”
With more than 40million record sales, Westlife have enjoyed phenomenal worldwide success, including 14 number one singles in the UK, behind only Elvis and The Beatles and tied with Cliff Richard.
The band’s new single, a cover of Home by Michael Bublé is due for release on Monday (October 29), followed by their ninth album, Back Home, on November 5.
