The Ugly Truth Is Butler Thrashes the Competition to win Scot of the Year

Scot of the Year 2009 Named to Mark Burn’s Day

Hollywood heartthrob and rumoured current love of Jenifer Aniston, Gerard Butler has been voted Scot of the Year 2009.  The results of voting, which has been taking place since December, have been unveiled to mark Burn’s Day.

The star of PS I Love You, RocknRolla and The Ugly Truth receive 66% of votes cast.  Second place was taken by singing phenomenon Susan Boyle who received 26% of votes cast.  Robert Burns whose 250th anniversary was marked in 2009 received 5% of votes and Egyptian Mohamed Al Fayed received 2% of votes.  Mr Al Fayed was given an honorary nomination after declaring his desire to be the leader of an independent Scotland.

The competition is run by ScotsCare, a London based charity for first and second generation Scots in need of help.

ScotsCare Chief Executive Willie Docherty said, “Gerard has certainly proved a popular winner amongst the females in our office.  We had a great list of contenders that would do any country proud.  Burn’s day is a very fitting time to celebrate the great people associated with Scotland.”
