Media Release: Double strike for Weber Shandwick Scotland

WITH the new footie season around the corner, public relations firm, Weber Shandwick, demonstrates its premiership credentials with two new business wins for its Edinburgh office.

The agency has won the PR contract for the Scottish Government’s Smoking Cessation campaign, which has two main objectives. The first is to signpost and motivate adult smokers wishing to quit to contact Smokeline.

The second aim is to raise awareness of and encourage compliance with new legislation surrounding the Tobacco and Primary Medical Services (Scotland) Bill.

The primary audiences for this strand of the PR campaign includes both tobacco retailers and under 18s.

Says a spokesperson: “The Tobacco Bill is the most significant change in tobacco control legislation in Scotland since the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005), which banned smoking in most enclosed public places. It contains wide-ranging measures aimed at reducing both the availability and attractiveness of cigarettes and other tobacco products to young people.”

Weber Shandwick has also netted the Seafish Industry Authority’s annual Fish and Chip Shop of the Year competition, and will manage media execution.

Lesley Clark, deputy managing director of Weber Shandwick in Scotland, said: “We are looking forward to working with our new clients on these two exciting and very different campaigns. Picking up two high profile accounts in a row is a fantastic achievement for the agency and the team is full of ideas for each one.”

Weber Shandwick has four offices in Scotland: Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.
