Northsound 1 Shortlisted for Commercial Radio Station of the Year
Northsound 1 has been short-listed in the prestigious Commercial Radio Station of the Year category in the national Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards.
This is one of only a handful of Scottish nominations in the awards, which have once again seen a record number of entries from stations across the UK.
Aberdeen-based Northsound 1 is up against Star Radio in Cambridge and Harrogate’s 97.2 Stray FM in the category for stations with more than 300,000 listeners.
The nominations were announced at a ceremony in London yesterday.
Luke McCullough, Northsound’s managing director, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Northsound 1 has been short-listed for this top industry award. This is a true reflection on the team at the station who work hard to bring our listeners entertaining local content, up to date information and news and of course, all the music they want to hear.
“This nomination comes on the back of another fantastic set of RAJAR listener figures for Northsound, maintaining our undisputed status as number one and the radio stations of choice for the North-east, which we have been proud to serve for more than 26 years.”
Andrew Harrison, chief executive of RadioCentre, the industry body for Commercial Radio, which organises the awards, added: “Commercial radio offers a huge breadth of programming including news and current affairs, sport, community and local issues and a vast range of music. The Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards are a great opportunity for the stations to highlight the programming they make; output that is loved by the 31 million listeners who tune in each week."
The winners will be announced a ceremony at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel on Monday, July 7.
