Glasgow Date for Yoga Master’s Key Scottish Appearance
One of the world’s leading yog (or yoga) experts and exponents, Swami Ramdev, is to stage a special free open air session in Glasgow’s Pollok Country Park on Monday August 11.
Swami Ramdev is one of the founders of the Divya Yoga Mandir Trust, which works to promote good health, physical and spiritual, and has brought the benefits of yog to countless thousands across the world.
His return to Glasgow following last year’s hugely successful mass tuition sessions in the SECC is again set to be a highlight of his UK summer programme.
This year’s event, to be staged at the Lochinch Police Club in Pollok Country Park from 10am to noon, is sponsored by health and spiritual channel Aastha TV (free to air on Sky Channel 807); and by Nature and Herbs (www.natureandherbs.co.uk), founded by city-based entrepreneur Arti Poddar, which promotes wellbeing through Ayurvedic herbal care and exercise techniques. Qualified Ayurvedic practitioners will be available after the yog class for free health advice.
In Swami Ramdev’s itinerary this summer, meanwhile, the Patanjali Yog Peeth (UK) Trust, which works tirelessly to promote yog in Scotland and across Britain, is again set to play an important role.
Trustee Sunita Poddar said: “Everyone who participated in and enjoyed Swami Ramdev’s memorable visit to Glasgow in 2007 will be delighted he has returned to a city which was so receptive last time around.
“His is a truly international ambition, to spread the benefits of yog to as wide an audience as possible.”
She added: “The benefits of yog are steadily becoming more widely understood, and there is no shortage of people in the UK keen to develop techniques which can have such an important bearing on one’s spiritual and physical health.”
If practised regularly and efficiently key benefits can include reduced stress levels, improved circulation, healthier joints, enhanced strength, agility and body tone, weight regulation, boosted immune and digestive system, as well as enhanced energy, concentration and flexibility.
On the day after his Glasgow appearance Swami Ramdev Ji travels to Edinburgh for an open air yog session at the capital’s Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens (Tuesday August 12, 11.30am to 1.30pm).
