St John’s Shopping Centre has bagged a UK first with the launch of their very own eco-bag, designed by international pop star Sandi Thom.

The “Love Bug Jute Bag” which is the first eco-bag in the UK to be designed by a pop star, will be released to the public in a limited edition format on Saturday 23rd August in St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth.

Sandi’s design depicting a love bug on a black ecologically sourced jute, long handled shopping bag will cost £7.50, however thrifty green fashionistas will be able to get £1 off the cost of their bag if they bring in their old plastic bags for recycling.

Siobhan McConnell, St John’s Shopping Centre manager is the mastermind behind the campaign. She said “This is a real coup for Perth. We wanted to do something different and we’re delighted that Sandi Thom was able to lend her creative skills and her time to the project and to create a very fashionable bag for us. The tide has turned and it really is time to ditch those carrier bags and invest in a good quality shopping bag which is stylish and can be re-used as often as you need.”

There will only be 500 bags in circulation, and St John’s Shopping Centre expects them to be in hot demand.

“We already have quite a number of pre-orders for the bag just from within the Shopping Centre, and for all those collectors of pop star memorabilia, this really is an exclusive.
