Strong Scots presence in Celtic nominations list

EXCEPT in the categories of drama and entertainment, Scotland is well represented among the nominations for this year’s Celtic Media Festival, which is taking place in March.

Previously known as the Celtic Film and Television Festival, the Celtic Media Festival is this year taking place on the Isle of Skye.

Set up in 1980, the festival’s aim is to promote the languages and cultures of the Celtic countries and regions – Scotland, Wales, Ireland (north and south), Cornwall and Brittany – on screen and in broadcasting.

Bronze Torcs will be awarded in seventeen categories.

A jury will also choose the winners of at least two special awards: the ‘Spirit of the Festival’ Gold Torc and the Frank Copplestone First-Time Director Award.

Head of Programmes at BBC Scotland, Maggie Cunningham, is this year’s festival chair.

The festival is taking place between March 28 and 30.
