High-level appointments announced for Scottish screenwriting course

THE producers of recent movie release, An Education, are to act as ‘creative advisors’ to a screenwriting course taking place in Edinburgh.

The Story Works is being described by its organisers – the Edinburgh International Film Festival and audio-visual industries training body, Skillset – as “a high-level screenwriting initiative aimed at experienced screenwriters”. And it has recruited An Education’s Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey as creative directors, and Kate Leys as story editor.

Leys was head of development at Film Four for five years where she was part of the small commissioning team responsible for films including Four Weddings and a Funeral, Orphans, East is East and Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Dwyer’s credits include Backbeat, Welcome to Woop Woop, The Lost Son, Me Without You, The Hamburg Cell, and  Tsunami: The Aftermath. Posey’s credits include Fever Pitch and 5 Seconds to Spare. Prior to producing, she worked on The Crying Game and Interview With The Vampire.
