Bell falls victim to radio reshuffle

ONE of Edinburgh’s best-known radio presenters is expected to begin working at Scotland’s newest radio station, at the expense of one of the founding presenters, Alex Bell.

Scott Wilson – long associated with Radio Forth, until his post, as deputy programme controller, was made redundant at the beginning of last month – is believed to be joining talk107, the all-speech radio station for Edinburgh, Fife and the Lothians.

It is understood he will be taking Bell’s place as co-host on the station’s breakfast show, with Susan Morrison.

On Friday, The Scotsman newspaper’s media correspondent, Fergus Sheppard, had talk107’s managing director, Peter Gillespie, not ruling out further presenter changes, in light of news the previous day that the station had enjoyed an increase in its listener figures but had yet to reach one per cent of its possible audience .

Bell – who is also a director of allmediascotland.com ltd – was considered too ‘cerebral’ for the station’s local remit.
