McGuire back after maternity broadcasts

AFTER having recently given birth to her second daughter, radio DJ, Suzie McGuire, was back in the studio yesterday, as part of a revamped schedule at Glasgow and west of Scotland station, Clyde 1.

Having previously presented the station’s lunchtime show, Suzie is now doing the 2pm-6pm, ‘drivetime’, slot. Though, in truth, she was never really away, her maternity leave partly taken up by presenting a two-hour show on a Saturday.

Two new shows began on the station yesterday, though the DJs will not be entirely unfamiliar to regular Clyde 1 listeners, since both Colin Kelly and David Farrell (aka ‘Romeo’) have previously appeared occasionally on the station.

Kelly’s show is from 10am-2pm, while Romeo’s is from 6pm-10pm, when former drivetime presenter, Gina McKie, takes over – alongside Duncan Leven.

P.S. Last night, old rocker, Rod Stewart, welcomed listeners to a new radio station for the west of Scotland.

Born out of former station, Q96, 93.6 Rock Radio describes itself as “Scotland’s first ‘classic rock’ radio station’ and, at 6pm last night, it launched with the voice of Stewart saying to listeners: “Hi, this is Rod Stewart. I can’t tell you how much pleasure it gives me to welcome you to Scotland’s first, ‘classic rock’ station, 96.3 Rock Radio. You’re in my heart, you’re in my soul Scotland, so let’s rock.”
